Okay, so there are slow space scenes that rival Star Trek: The Motion Picture. But not only is this movie very influential, it is intellectually amazing. Really accurate, it was really meant to be understood alongside Arthur C. Clarke's companion novel, which was developed alongside the film. I read the book. The movie is fantastic.
